Kinofest 10th edition is over, more than 250 films were screened at Cinema Elvira Popescu, Seneca Anticafe, Energiea Pub, Lente si Make a Point. The fantasies of hundreds of filmmakers lived on the Kinofest screens, for three days.

The juries appointed the best films from 2016 edition, from the OFF-LINE competitions.

Drop

The Best Fiction short film was Drop, a 2015 production from Israel, 9 minutes long, signed by Yotam Knispel.

The Fiction Jury: Alexandra Paun - script writer and independent film producer , Iulia Verdes – actress, Daniel Sur – writer, project coordinator at Romanian Cultural Institute and Razvan Mihai – TV producer. The film was remarked for the sensitive, natural, human approuch; the remarcable play of the young actors; for the curageous subject (unconfortable, even tabu), for the perfect image and the impecable technical realisation.

LE DERNIER JOUR DUN CONDAMNE

At the Animation section, the prize went to the French shortfilm Le dernier jour d'un condamné, made by: Perrine Bayssat, Sarah Dorne, Etienne Molinier, Emilie Phuong, Isabelle Piolat. It is a 2015 production.

Animation jury: Bogdan Lazar - animator, Ana Maria Ilie – creative director at Galateca, Andrei Cotrut – comics illustrator and Valentin Partenie – film director, Kinofest director.
The jury characterized the film as being a “jewel”, a film that tells a funny, interesting story, original in only 2 minutes. Technic, the animation is excelent.

An interesting fact is that both prizes chosen by the jury goes to students' films, registered by the schools that produced them: Beit Berl Collage (Israel) and École de l'image Gobelins (France). Young authors, students, managed to winn over more experienced filmmakers.

Vatula

On Youtube, for the ONLINE competition, the public voted theire favorite film, between 15th September and 2nd October. This popularity prize goes to the 6 minutes animation Vatuala, from India, signed by Shyam Sundar Chatterjee.

We have seven locations, that gathered about 1200 spectators. And the online competitions had about 1000 views.

Kinofest International Film Festival is organized by Kinofest Association, with no governmental support, or any other State institution from Romania (C.N.C, Culture Minister, A.F.C.N, A.R.C.U.B, Bucharest City Hall, etc.)

The 10the edition of Kinofest has the slogan “Imagine the Unimaginable!”. The concept and graphic of the visual campaigne in 2016 is created by Radu Tinc and Meka Studio.

IMAGINE THE UNIMAGINABLE!

In 2016, the 10th edition of Kinofest, the International Film Festival, is taking place, between 30th September and 2nd October. About 250 shortfilms will be screened for the public, at Cinema Elvira Popescu, Energiea Pub, Seneca Anticafe, Lente and Make a Point.

The competitions of the festival present 56 films. The Online cathegory is happening on www.kinofest.com, between 15th September and 2nd October. There are 15 shortfilms finalists in the Online Competition, and they are available for the international public, to be watched and voted. The film that gathers most appreciations winns the Best Online film at Kinofest 2016.

The Animation and Fiction Competition, presenting 41 films, will be screened at Energiea Pub, in the presence of the jury formed by film-makers and specialists. 

At Elvira Popescu Cinema, on 1st and 2nd October, Kinofest presents 2 programs for children and young public, at 2.30PM; and in the evening, 3 programs of exceptional shorts: one with films from most important animation schools (GOBELINS, ArtFx, École Estienne, ISART DIGITAL, etc), one with spooky/thriller shorts and one with awarded films at Kinofest, in the past editions.

At Lente locations will screen 3 programs: World Panorama Animation, Best of Kinofest (awarded films at past editions) and invited festivals: O!PLA and Visegrad Animation Forum.

At Seneca Anticafe there are 3 programs of eco-films, name The Blue Planet. And, at Make a Point - a program of japonese shortfilms, from the invited festival Short Shorts Asia&Japan.

Today, 15th September, takes place the kickstart of the Online Competition at Kinofest 2016. 15 shortfilms will be available to be seen and voted by the public, between 15th September and 2nd October, on www.kinofest.com and on Kinofest Youtube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/MrKinofest).

The selected films are, mostly, animations. The themes and genres are varied. The voting process takes place like this: in order to vote a film, you must have an Youtube personal account. After you log in and see the films, in order to vote your favorite film, you must press the “like” button, under the film player. The film that gathers most appreciations (“likes”) until 2nd October at 12PM (Sunday at Midnight), will be the winner.

In 2016, Kinofest will project the offline competitions at Cinema Elvire Popesco, Energiea Pub, Lente, Make a Point and Seneca Anticafe, between 30th September and 2nd October, in Bucharest.

You can start sending films! The deadline for registrations is 31st July. Please read about registration requirements, terms and conditions here.

The 10th edition of Kinofest will take place: on 1-30 September on internet, and on 30 September – 2 October in a cinema.

Kinofest 2016 has five different competition cathegories: the three Online Competitions, organized in September (1-30) and two offline competitions (30 September-2 October).

Online Kinofest Competitions (1-30 September): Animation, Fiction, Micromovie. The selected films will be upload on Youtube Kinofest (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBsd6sm3DreHwH6IxIJtr2w), and available for the public voting (with “like”). The film that gathers most vots will win the competition – there will be 3 winners, one for each online section: Best Animation Online, Best Fiction Online, Best Micromovie.

OFFline Kinofest Competitions (30 September – 1 October): Animation and Fiction. The selected films will be projected in a cinema, on 30 September – 2 October. The jury, one for each section, will choose the winners: Best Animation and Best Fiction. If the budget will allow us, we’ll have two more prizes – a Jury Prize for each offline competition.

The prizes will be cash.
